Dr. Hee Jung (Annette) Kang joined the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management as an Assistant Professor in Fall 2014. She received her Ph.D. in Hotel Administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in human resource management, organizational behavior, and lodging operations. Dr. Kang has over 8 years of industry experience at a number of prominent hospitality organizations. She received the Hospitality Educator Certification credential from the American Hotel and Lodging Association.
Dr. Kang’s research is theoretically grounded in organizational behavior. Her current research interests are in employee engagement, service climate, positive organizational behavior, organizational effectiveness, and employee turnover. She seeks to understand the factors that affect hospitality employees’ attitudes, behaviors and performance. Her initial research focused on how employees’ perceptions of their work and organization impacted organizational effectiveness. Recently, Dr. Kang investigated individual and organizational antecedents of employee engagement along with valued human resource outcomes. By routinely collaborating with industry partners, she is committed to advancing the body of knowledge in hospitality through research.
