Overview
Students are required to complete basic courses in Hospitality and Tourism Management and then specialize by pursuing a cognate or selected courses from other departments and colleges on campus, such as business, finance, management, human nutrition and foods, etc. In general, the course of study is designed to emphasize the principles of management and decision making as applied to the Hospitality and Tourism service industry.
Research is required of all graduate students. The research topic depends upon the student's interests, work experience, and course of study. The research interests of the faculty members in the department are many and varied. All graduate students are encouraged to select faculty members to serve on their advisory and research committee who have an academic research and experience record is consistent with their interests. The opportunities for research are excellent since the department enjoys an excellent relationship with all segments of the Hospitality and Tourism industry throughout the state, region and internationally.
