Faculty Accomplishments and Recognitions
Among the HTM faculty, there are two fellows in the International Academy of Hospitality Research, two fellows in the International Academy for the Study of Tourism, and one fellow in the Academy of Leisure Science.
The Olsen Research Achievement Award annually awarded by the Council of Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education is named in honor of HTM Professor Mike Olsen.
HTM faculty either are currently serving or have served on the boards of directors of virtually all major national and state professional organizations in Hospitality and Tourism Management, including Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education, Virginia Hospitality and Travel Association, International Hotel Investment Council, Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International, Meeting Planners International, Convention Industry Council, National Tour Foundation, Travel and Tourism Research Association, and the International Franchise Association.
HTM Instructor Howard Feiertag is a Lifetime member of the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association and of Meeting Planners International. He also authors a column in both Hotel and Motel Management and Corporate and Incentive Travel Magazine.
