Creating Real-World Learning Laboratories
Our industry partners play a significant and important role in creating rich, integrated learning environments for Virginia Tech HTM students. The new Inn at Virginia Tech and Skelton Conference Center, located on our Blacksburg campus, boasts three executive suites, three parlor suites, and 141 comfortably appointed guestrooms.
The Inn at Virginia Tech and Skelton Conference Center The conference center is directly connected to the Inn, providing the capacity to host major events, from reunions and social gatherings to international meetings and teleconferences. It includes a 9,200-square-foot ballroom capable of seating up to 750 people, 13 meeting and conference rooms of various sizes, and a spacious pre-function hall with a view of the Alumni Lawn. HTM students gain valuable experience in the day-to-day operations, and also benefit from on-site hotel/restaurant management laboratories, our demonstration kitchen, and classroom activities and experiences.
Virginia Tech also owns the Hotel Roanoke, a Doubletree brand property that has won numerous awards. This facility, which has been managed by Hilton since the early 1990s, continues to provide a tremendous real-world laboratory setting for instruction in lodging and food service.
